Obama's grandmother dies; wacko GOP conspiracy theorists waste no time responding

Barack Obama’s grandmother has died of cancer. And the response in certain Republican circles is: Obama timed her death for political purposes!

Is it any wonder the GOP is headed for a colossal shellacking in the polls?

Here is a quote from one heartless Republican. Note that this is the very first, immediate – from the gut – response to the news story immediately preceding it about Mrs. Durham’s death:

This just seems to be timed just right to get some sympathy votes. I know it seems harsh to say but there has been evidence to show that people who are deathly ill do not die before a big event such as a birthday and anniversary.

But really, it isn’t that beyond the pale of what other GOP operatives have said in recent weeks. Anyone listening to Peter Boyles on KHOW-610 recently has had the displeasure of hearing the venomous Jerome Corsi fulminating about how Obama probably didn’t even go to Hawaii to visit his ailing grandmother, but actually went there to somehow personally fix his so-called “birth certificate problem.”

(Corsi never explained how Obama, press corps in tow, could possibly do anything in person in Hawaii to “fix” that problem. Images of Inspector Clouseau come to mind. Not to mention that Obama has had a legit Hawaii birth certificate all along – but that doesn’t bother people like Corsi who make a handsome living out of peddling outright lies.)

Anyway, no sooner did the news of Obama’s grandmother hit the blogosphere than some more of these vile, despicable nut jobs started theorizing that Obama had somehow “timed” her death to occur the day before the election as a “sympathy” move.

Do these people even realize how sick they seem to anyone with even a shred of human decency? The people who proudly do monkey dances and show off a monkey with an Obama sticker to the cameras. The people who shout “Terrorist!” about Obama at McCain rallies – with ahrdly a response from McCain or Palin.

No wonder the McCain candidacy is falling off a cliff.

With despicable friends like these, who needs enemies?
